Man Arrested in Andover Suspected of Shooting 13-Year-Old

State Police arrested an Everett man suspected of shooting a teenage boy in Chelsea last night.

A 19-year-old Everett man suspected of shooting a 13-year-old Chelsea boy was arrested in Andover Thursday.

Christian Garcia was arrested when Chelsea Police detectives alerted State Police to a vehicle they had been tracking on Route 93. State Troopers stopped the vehicle and arrested Garcia without incident. Police say he will be booked on assault with a dangerous weapon and firearm charges and will be arraigned Friday in Chelsea District Court.

The boy, Juan Lopez Delgado, was struck when a stray bullet when through his Bellingham Street home and hit him. Delgado told The Boston Globe the bullet is still in his shoulder, but he is doing OK.

“I want to thank the various law enforcement agencies who assisted in making this timely arrest," said Chelsea Police Chief Brian Kyes. “Without the help of the willing Chelsea residents who provided information, this investigation may not have had the successful conclusion it had”.
