Nearly 3,000 Expected For Andover's Walk To End Alzheimer’s

ANDOVER, MA - From the Alzheimer's Association: The Alzheimer’s Association Northeastern Massachusetts Walk to End Alzheimer’s will take place on Sunday, September 16 at Brickstone Square in Andover. Nearly 3,000 people are expected at this year’s event to raise awareness and funds to fight Alzheimer’s disease.

Walk participants will complete either 1- or 3-mile walk and will learn about Alzheimer's disease, advocacy opportunities, clinical studies enrollment and support programs and services from the Alzheimer’s Association. Walk participants will also honor those affected by Alzheimer's disease with the poignant Promise Garden ceremony.

In Massachusetts alone, there are more than 130,000 people living with the disease and 337,000 caregivers. In the United States, more than 5 million Americans are living with Alzheimer's disease, the sixth-leading cause of death and the only disease among the top 10 causes that cannot be cured, prevented or even slowed. Additionally, more than 16 million family and friends provide care to people with Alzheimer’s and other dementias.
