Parking Banned from Lorraine Campground at Harold Parker State Forest - let your voice be heard.

For anyone who has been able to walking at Lorraine Campground at Harold Parker State Forest during the fall, winter and spring - there is a new surprise that awaits - many signs that say "No Parking". Instead of parking at the entrance of the campground (as it has always been), the wish of the park manager is that you instead drive up the road and park at the Berry Pond lot where you will be charged a fee.

It isn't the fee that is most bothersome to me (and to be fair, I paid for a lifetime parking pass anyways), but having to walk down to the campground on a dangerous road with no sidewalks and potential snow, ice and salt with my little 17 year old Lhasa Apso is not appealing to me.

If you feel as I do, you might want to contact Leo Roy, the commissioner of the DCR and let him know how you feel. Also, contacting your State Reps might be in order! Together, we may be able to get them to have the campground stay accessible for all of us during its offseason!!! The email for Mr. Roy is: Leo.RoyW@state.ma.us
