Play in Golf Fore Homes tournament to support affordable housing.

On Monday, May 20, Essex County Habitat for Humanity will be holding its 3rd annual Golf Fore Homes golf tournament at Ferncroft County Club. The proceeds raised from the tournament will support building more affordable homes throughout Essex County.

With the lack of affordable housing at crisis levels, taking part in Golf Fore Homes is a fun way to be part of the solution. As last year’s winner, Stephen Zamierowski, says “It’s a fun round of golf with friends and colleagues while helping our neighbors struggling with housing insecurity, now that’s a WIN WIN!”

You can hear the stats that 1 in 4 families in Essex County pay more than 50% of their income on housing and are considered severely cost burdened, and continue with your day. But when you hear about your friend’s children just starting their families and having to move to another part of the country to afford to buy a home, that is when the reality hits home.

That is why Mary Marengi, a local real estate agent and a member of the planning committee gets involved: “Playing in this tournament gives me the opportunity to spend time with friends while contributing to a great cause that is close to me; home ownership.”

For every swing of the club, I know I am helping a deserving family achieve their dream of owning their first home,” explains Brian Brown from corporate supporter SPS.
