Chocolates and candies are a classic Valentine’s Day token and Sweet Mimi’s Chocolates has the variety. The shop typically closes at 6 p.m. on a Monday, but as last minute Valentine’s shoppers venture out Mimi says they’ll remain open as long as people are coming in.

Sweet Mimi’s is owned and operated by Mimi Queen. Mimi has been in Andover selling candy for 20 years and has been proprietor of Sweet Mimi’s for 10 years.

She has devotedly made the shop a candy lover’s dream and styled it much like an old fashioned penny candy store. Once you enter the front door your eyes are bound to light up with excitement no matter what your age. The colorful storefront is filled with beautifully displayed chocolate treats and the rows of shelves are chock-full of irresistible candy filled jars.

Mimi began her love affair with candy when her children were small and she took on candy making as a hobby.Today, her candies are brought in from some of the finest candy kitchens both locally and as far away as Paris, France.

Mimi brings pieces into the store that she, herself, likes and then leaves it up to her customers to determine if they will continue to grace her shelves. She attends the Fancy Food Show in New York and brings back the best of the best for all of us in and around Andover to savor.

Items in store are always fresh and the broad selection includes everything from truffles to nut and sugar free options.

During the Valentine’s Day holiday, Mimi’s business is as much as 80 percent chocolate.

“Come in and we’ll put a great box of chocolate together for you,” Mimi said.

The opportunity to select each chocolate based on your loved one’s favorites will make your custom box all the more special.
