What's Open, Closed In Andover On Christmas Day

ANDOVER, MA -- Andover Town offices will be closed all day Tuesday in observance of Christmas. They will reopen for normal business hours on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. The offices will be closed all day on Jan. 1 for New Year's Day.

Trash will be picked up on Monday. For the remainder of the week, there will be a one-day delay (Tuesday on Wednesday, Wednesday on Thursday, Thursday on Friday and Friday on Saturday). The same schedule will apply for the following week as a result of the New Year's Day holiday.

The customer care centers Columbia Gas of Massachusetts set up to help residents following the Sept. 13 gas explosions in Andover, North Andover and Lawrence will be closed on Dec. 24 and Dec. 25. The 24/7 Affected Customer Helpline will be available during the holiday and can be reached by calling 1-866-388-3239.

Here's where it gets tricky. Many restaurants, retail stores, and grocery stores will be closed, but not all. Here are some details on a few to get you started:

Retail stores:

• CVS
  • Christmas Eve: Most stores open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Christmas Day: Most stores open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. (excludes stores inside Target).

Supermarkets:

• Shaw's/Star Market
  • Christmas Eve: Most stores typically close a few hours early
  • Christmas Day: Closed
• Trader Joe's
  • Christmas Eve: All stores close at 6 p.m.
  • Christmas Day: Closed
• Whole Foods
  • Christmas Eve: All stores will have limited hours. Hours vary by location.
  • Christmas Day: Closed.
