ARLINGTON, MA — The 2016-2017 school year is almost here, and while students may be dreading it, the time has come to make preparations for the upcoming school year.

K-12 Students are due back in Arlington schools on Tuesday, Sept. 6, with preschool students returning Sept. 12. Here are ten other important dates on the Arlington public schools calendar that you should be aware of during the first few months of the year.

1. Sept. 13: Special Education Parent Advisory Committee meeting, 8:30 a.m. at the Cyrus Dallin House
2. Sept. 20: Arlington High School Open House
3. Sept. 22: Pierce Curriculum Night
4. Sept. 27: Thompson Curriculum Night
5. Sept. 28: Bishop Curriculum Night
6. Sept. 29: Stratton Curriculum Night.
7. Oct. 3: No school, Rosh Hashana
8. Oct. 4: Elementary early release
9. Oct. 18: All levels early release
10. Nov. 1: High school early release 11:15 a.m., Elementary early release 1 p.m., Middle school early release 11:15 a.m. - Afternoon parent conferences
