Alleged Bank Robbers Arraigned

Andrea F. Koutis, a 30-year-old Arlington woman, and Erick G. Stout, 35, of Somerville, were arraigned Friday in Cambridge District Court on charges related to Tuesday’s robbery of the East Cambridge Savings Bank in East Arlington.

Koutis was charged with one count of armed robbery, Stout with one count of armed and masked robbery after an investigation late Tuesday night by the Arlington Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Bureau and the FBI’s Bank Robbery Task Force.

Koutis and Stout are both being held at the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Department Jail on Nashua Street in Boston, according to an Arlington Police Department release. Koutis’ bail was set at $100,000, Stout’s at $250,000, the release states. The two are due back in court Tuesday, Jan. 29, for a probable cause hearing.

Koutis and Stout allegedly robbed the East Cambridge Savings Bank at 105 Broadway at about 3:36 p.m. Tuesday and then robbed the Sovereign Bank at 1045 Trapelo Road in Waltham right after. Stout, who allegedly was masked, claimed to have a weapon in both robberies, police said. No injuries were reported in either incident.

The two were apprehended by state police at about 4:54 p.m. Tuesday after a short pursuit on Soldiers Field Road in Boston. They were allegedly in a stolen motor vehicle and had $7,000 in cash on them, police said. They also matched the descriptions of the bank-robbery suspects, according to police.

Koutis and Stout are also facing charges from the Suffolk District Attorney’s Office. Koutis was charged with operating a stolen motor vehicle, failure to stop and a marked lanes violation, Stout with resisting arrest and disorderly conduct, according to a Suffolk District Attorney spokesman.
