ARLINGTON, MA — A local playground will be closed for repairs through much of the week.
Contractors were scheduled to begin work on the safety surfacing at Lussiano Playground on Wednesday, Nov. 4, with the playground expected to reopen at the end of the week. The playground is located at North Union Park next to the Thompson School on 60 North Union St.
Residents are asked by the town to stay off all parts of the playground while crews complete repairs and afterward to allow the surfacing to cure properly.
North Union Park also includes a baseball diamond, a multipurpose field known as Lussiano Field, basketball hoops, picnic areas and a seasonal spray park, according to Arlington Recreation.
The playground reopened following a renovation in October 2020. That project was funded through the Community Preservation Act, state grants secured by State Rep. Sean Garballey, and the Community Development Block Grant program.
