The schedule includes a parade, a ceremony, and a wreath-laying observance.
ARLINGTON, MA —The town is preparing to honor local veterans with a parade and a series of Veterans Day observances.
Arlington Veterans Services and the Arlington Veterans Council will host the events on Wednesday, Nov. 11. The schedule includes a parade, a ceremony, and a wreath-laying observance. Veterans, families, residents, community partners, and local businesses are invited to attend.
Parade participants should gather at 10:15 a.m. at Walgreens Pharmacy on 324 Massachusetts Ave. The parade will begin at 10:30 a.m. and proceed to the Central Fire Station with a police escort. A Council on Aging van will be available for those with mobility challenges.

A ceremony at the fire station will be followed by a wreath-laying observance at Arlington’s Veterans Memorial Monument on 309 Broadway, at the junction of Massachusetts Avenue and Broadway. Attendees are then invited to return to the Central Fire Station for coffee and donuts. The event will conclude at 12:30 p.m.
This year’s gathering will also provide an opportunity to learn about the Veterans Memorial Park renovation project. Renovations are anticipated during the 2027 construction season, and the town is asking residents, veterans, and their families to review the names that will appear on the park’s Veterans Honor Roll before they are finalized for engraving.

The Arlington Veterans Services Department has worked with the Massachusetts State Archives and the Military Records Office in Milford to research service records, verify names, and identify veterans who may be missing from existing town records. According to the town, the effort has included reviewing and cross-referencing more than 13,000 names from historical and military sources.
Service-era lists are being released in stages for public review. Available lists cover the Vietnam and Korean War eras; the 1980s, including Lebanon, Grenada and Panama; the Persian Gulf War era; and the Global War on Terrorism and current service era. The list covering World War I and earlier eras is expected Nov. 6. The World War II list is expected Dec. 18, following an extension due to the volume of records requiring review.
Residents are encouraged to identify misspelled names, missing veterans, duplicate entries, and other inaccuracies. Each veteran’s name will appear once on the completed Honor Roll.
The Honor Roll will recognize qualifying veterans both living and deceased. Eligible service characterizations include Honorable; General, Under Honorable Conditions; Administrative; or Medical, as documented on a DD214 or equivalent military-issued service certificate.
Veterans must also have been born in Arlington, been inducted into the military while residing in Arlington, served on active duty while residing in Arlington, or lived in town for 10 consecutive years.
Residents can submit corrections, additions, or other information to the Director of Veterans Services. The deadline for public review and feedback is Jan. 6 of next year.
