“A Greek Cultural Odyssey...The Ultimate Greek Experience Arlington St. Athanasius Greek Festival

Rain or Shine....come one and all, from far and near, to share our culture and hospitality!!! This friendly exchange takes place in the all-encompassing tent behind The St. Athanasius the Great Church, the corner of 4 Appleton St. and Mass. Ave. in Arlington May 30 through June 2,.

From the interior of the tent come mesmerizing rhythms and inviting aromas leading you to a welcoming Greek world. The hearty fragrances of Gyro, succulent Lamb from the oven, as well as chicken and beef Souvlaki from the grill, and savory Spanakopita, Tiropita, Pastitsio, and Moussaka, are irresistible! Pastry delicacies like Baklava, Diples, Galaktobouriko, Kourambiedes, Koulourakia, Melomakarouna, Rice Pudding, and delectable Loukoumades (fried dough with light syrup and walnuts), etc. are the perfect culmination to a delicious meal.

Enjoy lunch and dinner at The Plaka of ancient Athens. Order Take-Out for home! Have a Frappe at the Cafenio (café). View colorful and exotic wares at The Agora: jewelry, handicrafts, knick-knacks, discs, tapes, books, icons, and much more! Church tours with brief information sessions will be made available. The Busy Bee Jumpers and the Kids Corner provide carnival fun for the young!

Visitors of all ages are welcome to dance or simply listen to the entrancing music.

The Sons & Daughters of Alexander the Great will perform vigorous yet graceful folk dances (Fri. & Sat., 8:30 pm). There is dj music as well as live band: Thurs: Apollo Sound, dj, 5-9 pm; Fri: Salonica Sound, dj, 11 am -6 pm; Vasili’s Band, 6 -10 pm; Sat: Kefi Sounds, 11 am – 6 pm; Music for the Young and Young at Heart, 1 -2 pm; Enosis Band, 6 – 10 pm; Sun: Salonica Boys, dj, 1 – 8 pm.
