Arlington Bakery Returns Under New Ownership

The bakery closed for renovations in July after changing owners.

ARLINGTON, MA — The future of Arlington Bakery was uncertain after it changed owners earlier this year, but it re-opened last month serving old favorites. Lika Velentzas, a graduate of the Cambridge School of Culinary Arts, took the business over from John and Toula Matheos after the couple retired this year.

Velentzas, who grew up helping her family run a pizza restaurant in Auburn, wanted to open her own bakery, according to the Arlington Advocate. She made some renovations to the bakery and added some new items to the menu.

The Greek bakery is known for baklava, sheet cake, spanakopita and more.
