Arlington Beach Closed Due To High Bacteria Levels
The closure comes as Arlington conducts regular water quality testing at the Reservoir throughout the beach season.
ARLINGTON, MA — The Arlington Reservoir is closed effective immediately after recent testing found E. coli levels above the standard for bathing water, the town's health department announced.
The beach was closed in consultation with Arlington’s Health Department following the latest water quality results. The Recreation Department is working to repair a mechanical issue and retest the water so the Reservoir can reopen as soon as possible.
The town expects the Reservoir to reopen at 12 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 15, pending a clear report from testing conducted Friday morning. The Recreation Department expects to receive the results Saturday morning at the earliest.

The town directed residents to check the Arlington Recreation website Saturday for the latest open or closed status before visiting the Reservoir.

According to the town, G&L Labs tests the Reservoir weekly to minimize illness and injury associated with swimming and comply with Massachusetts Department of Public Health regulations.
