Arlington Beach Closing For 2 Weeks Before Summer Season

The closure is to allow for the Recreation Department to make final preparations before summer begins.

ARLINGTON, MA — The town announced that Reservoir Beach gates will close for two weeks in June as the Recreation Department prepares the site for the upcoming beach season.

The gates are set to be locked beginning Monday, June 1, and will reopen for the season at 9 a.m. on Monday, June 15, according to a town update posted this week. The town said the closure is part of final preparations before summer operations begin at the Reservoir.

The announcement comes as families and residents begin planning for summer recreation in Arlington. The town directed residents looking for information about Reservoir season passes to Arlington Recreation’s website.

Registration remains open for Club Rec, Arlington’s summer program for children in Kindergarten through fifth grade. The program is scheduled to run from Monday, June 29, through Friday, Aug. 21, and will be based at Dallin Elementary School on 185 Florence Ave. According to the town, Club Rec participants travel to the Arlington Reservoir each day, weather permitting, for outdoor play and swimming.

The town also included a separate notice from the Religious Acceptance Working Group of the Arlington Human Rights Commission, which is asking residents to complete a survey about what kinds of community programs would be most meaningful in the coming year.
