Arlington Beer Garden Proposal Sees Changes

The new plan includes a reduction in the number of days it will open and the involvement of local restaurants.

ARLINGTON, MA – The proposal to bring a beer garden to Arlington's Whittemore Park this summer has seen some changes in response to feedback from the community. Somerville-based Aeronaut Brewing Company initially proposed a three-month beer garden that would operate on Saturdays and Sundays and feature a rotating food truck.

That plan has been altered to address questions and concerns raised at a June 11 select board meeting. According to YourArlington, the new proposal would have the beer garden operating solely on Saturdays in July and Saturdays and Sundays in August and September, except for Town Day, when Aeronaut would temporarily relocate.

Aeronaut also plans on serving food from a couple local restaurants, as many have shown interest in participating, YourArlington reported. The proposal also includes the rental of porta-potties and bicycle racks to prevent overflow to nearby businesses. Aeronaut would pay $400 to the town for seasonal use of the park this year.
