Arlington Catholic High School Student Dies After Battle With Cancer
Matthew Driscoll was a member of the class of 2028.
ARLINGTON, MA — An Arlington Catholic High School student died this week after a battle with cancer, the school announced on Thursday.
Matthew Driscoll, 15, died on Tuesday, Jan. 13. The teenager was a sophomore slated to graduate in 2028. The Woburn resident was a beloved son, nephew, cousin, friend, classmate, soccer teammate, and dog owner.
“We extend our deepest condolences to his family and loved ones, and we hold them close in our prayers during this time of unimaginable loss,” Arlington Catholic said in a statement. “We commend Matthew to God’s eternal care and pray that he may now rest in His peace. Matthew touched the lives of many within our school community, and his presence will be deeply missed.”

Many people expressed their condolences and love for Driscoll online, citing his courageous battle with the fatal illness at such a young age.
Driscoll’s wake is scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 21 at the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home on 263 Main St. in Woburn. His funeral mass will be the next day on Thursday, Jan. 22 at St. Raphael Church on 512 High St. in Medford. Burial will immediately follow the service at the Mount Auburn Cemetery on 580 Mount Auburn St. In lieu of flowers, Driscoll’s loved ones have requested donations be made to the Jimmy Fund at Dana Farber Cancer Institute.
