Arlington High Boys' Basketball Advances in Division 2 North Bracket

Also, the Division 1 North boys' hockey bracket was released Monday night.

Today is Tuesday, Feb. 26. Here are five things you need to know:

1.) The 16th-seeded Arlington High boys’ basketball team took care of No. 17 Tewksbury 68-52 Monday at home in the preliminary round of the Division 2 North bracket.

The Spy Ponders (11-10) advance to face undefeated, No. 1 Melrose (20-0) in the first round of the bracket at 7 p.m. Thursday at Melrose High School.

Melrose and Arlington actually squared off last week in Melrose’s own tournament. Melrose escaped that day with a 58-56 win. That was Melrose’s most recent game.

Melrose also beat Arlington 59-48 on Jan. 29.

2.) The Division 1 North boys’ hockey bracket was released Monday night. Arlington (9-6-5) got the No. 8 seed and will face No. 9 Melrose (10-7-4) in the bracket’s preliminary round at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in Woburn. Arlington Catholic (11-6-4) earned the No. 3 seed and will play No. 6 Waltham (12-8-2) in the first round at 8 p.m. Sunday in Stoneham.

3.) There is a Mass. Ave. corridor project public hearing at 7 p.m. tonight in Town Hall.

4.) Selectmen approved Monday a ballot question on overnight parking.

5.) Today should be partly sunny with a high near 43, according to the National Weather Service.
