ARLINGTON, MA — Site work on the new Arlington High School will begin in late February, according to the AHS Building Committee, which released a rough project timeline this week. The Committee will hold a public forum Feb. 4 from 6-8:30 p.m. in the Arlington High School Lowe Auditorium to discuss what to expect in the first 3-6 months.

Topics covered will include:

  • Site work, fencing, construction, and phasing plans
  • Field closures and changes to the existing site
  • Access changes for pedestrians/bikes/cars, parking
  • Noise and dust control mitigation
  • Questions and answers

The project's current phase, Design Development, will run through this summer. The design for the new school will be finalized during this phase, and the Committee closed the gap between the latest cost estimates and approved project budget as part of this phase.

Construction is expected to begin in earnest in October, and the first wing of the new building is slated to open in January 2022.

The school will be finished in 2024, followed by an additional year of site work.
