Arlington Labor Day 2017: What's Open? What's There To Do?
Got plans yet? Here's some info about what's open, what's closed in Arlington that might help.

ARLINGTON, MA — There's good news and there's bad news about this weekend. The bad news is this is pretty much the official end to summer is upon us with Labor Day fast approaching. The good news is that you get free parking on Monday and an extra day off. After all, the whole idea behind the national holiday was to honor the social and economic achievements of American workers.
We've got you covered with what's open and what’s closed on Labor Day, and don’t forget - with the Monday holiday, trash and recycling will be delayed a day (see below).
But lest you get sad about the end of summer here are 5 things to do with the last weekend and celebrate all the workers that came before you:

Go do things:
- Go look at the stars with the Arlington Astronomy gang: Sat, Sept. 2, 8 p.m. At Robbins Farm Park.
- Get a tour of the Old Schwamb Mill in Arlington. It's the oldest continuously operating mill site in the United States. The Mill is open to visitors every Saturday (and Tues) from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- Run for Texas, Arlington resident and recent transplant from Texas is organizing a run with proceedsto go to Hurricane Harvey survivors. It actually starts in Harvard Square, not Arlington, but it's for a good cause. Sunday, Sept. 3: 8 a.m.
- For the love of all things go see the Amazing Acro-cats Featuring Tuna and the Rock Cats. These are a troupe of REAL performing house cats, folks. And if you needed anything to sweeten the deal, a portion of the proceeds always benefits our mobile foster and rescue efforts. (Caturday Sept. 2 - Monday, Sept.4)
What's open?
Here’s what’s open and what’s closed on Labor Day in Arlington, and don’t forget - with the Monday holiday, trash and recycling will be delayed a day.
Town Hall and all town offices are closed Monday. This includes the Senior Center and the Public Libraries. All schools, both public and private, are closed as well.
All federal and state offices are also closed. This includes the Post Office, as well as the State Department of Emergency Management and other state public health offices.

- Banks - All banks are closed on Labor Day.
- Liquor Stores - open at owner's discretion
- MBTA - Operating on a Sunday schedule. View all schedules here.
- ROBBINS LIBRARY CLOSED Sept. 2 - Sept. 4
- Edith M. Fox Branch Library won't be open either. (They're open again on every other sat starting Sept. 9)
- Bars, Restaurants - All are open regular hours at the owner’s discretion.
- Kickstand Cafe is open normal hours, for example.
Please be advised that the APD Records Room will be closed Monday, Sept 4th. Normal hours will resume Tuesday, Sept 5th from 8am-4pm.
