Arlington Man Charged With Drunken Driving

The 71-year-old was drunk when he hit a parked car Monday night, police said.

ARLINGTON, MA – An Arlington man was drunk when he struck a parked car Monday, police said. Pedro Lasarte, 71, told police he wasn't sure how he hit the car on Coleman Road and could not find his license or registration, according to the police report.

Officers responding to the scene around 7:25 p.m. said Lasarte's breath smelled like alcohol and his speech was slurred, the report stated. Lasarte handed the officer unrelated personal papers and he was unsteady on his feet when asked to get out of his car, police said.

Officers allegedly found several full nip bottles on the passenger's side floor and an empty nip in the center console. Lasarte told police he had a "couple" of alcoholic drinks an hour earlier and was returning home after picking up Chinese food, according to the report.
