Here's how you can help support the officer's cause.

ARLINGTON, MA — Two Arlington Police Officers will be participating in the Pan-Mass Challenge on August 6 and 7 in honor of Catherine Malatesta, the Arlington High School student who lost a battle with cancer at the age of 16 last August.

The police department announced via its Facebook account that Officers Michael Hogan and Dennis Mahoney will take to the 192-mile course this weekend in honor of Malatesta, who passed away on Aug. 3, 2015. The Pan-Mass Challenge is a bike-a-thon that runs through 46 towns in Massachusetts.

Malatesta was a former Student Council President and varsity field hockey player, and left an unforgettable mark on the Arlington community.
