Arlington Spy Pond Restrictions To Follow Chemical Treatment
The pond will be treated to control nuisance vegetation in August.

ARLINGTON, MA – Arlington's Spy Pond will be chemically treated with registered herbicide Tribune to control nuisance vegetation on Monday, Aug. 13. The pond will be closed to all water uses – boating, fishing and swimming – only on the day of treatment.
Other restrictions will continue through the week: use of pond water for livestock watering will be prohibited for one day or until Aug. 14, for drinking and cooking for two days or until Aug. 15 and for irrigation for five days or until Aug. 18. These restrictions will be posted with printed signs placed around the pond shoreline prior to chemical treatment.
The project is being conducted under a license issued by the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection and an Order of Conditions permit from the Arlington Conservation Commission. SŌLitude Lake Management is the pond management consultant and contractor to the town for this project.
