Arlington Town Night Fireworks Fundraiser Hits Goal

Town Night may have one of its most popular spectacles after all this year.

ARLINGTON, MA – A fundraising campaign to raise enough money for a last-minute fireworks display at Arlington Town Night has hit its goal. According to the GoFundMe page, the fireworks company is available on Sept. 14 and needs to be booked by this Friday, Aug. 31.

The campaign reached its $9,000 goal in just one week. Katie Garrett, who started the page, wrote Tuesday that she has reached out to the town manager's office and promised more details soon.

The Arlington Elks Club breathed new life into Town Night this year, months after the Town Day Committee decided the event would be too expensive to hold. The Elks announced this month it would take on the mantle of hosting duties Sept. 14. Its event will consist of kids' activities, a live band and a movie screening.

But fireworks were nixed from the lineup as the club couldn't "foot that bill," member Theresa Schanda told the Arlington Advocate, leading to the crowdsourcing effort.
