Arlington UpBeat Cycling Studio To Open Soon

This may be Arlington's answer to Soul Cycle.

ARLINGTON, MA — There's a new cycling studio / workout space in Arlington. Upbeat Cycling is slated to open this weekend on February 3 near Arlington High School the studio announced Wednesday.

Long-time Arlington resident, Jackie Maurer came up with the idea to start a cycling studio complete with (ahem) upbeat music and a place where people feel welcome, supported and comfortable, according to the website.

The vibe she was going for was one that encourages people to have fun while exercising at the studio at 6 Schouler Court, she said.

"My mission is also to make Upbeat Cycling a positive force for good," she wrote on her website.

She created "UP-4-Impact," as a way to help raise money to organizations in the community by lending the studio as a way to sponsor local causes and "overall being an additive presence in the community."

If it sounds a bit like a spinning studio, Maurer insists there's a difference.

"The two are worlds apart. We are focused on delivering a complete experience from beginning to end that is fun, motivating and will bring you back for more. The minute you are warmly welcomed upon arrival to our beautifully designed studio, you will notice the difference. Our rides are more like play and less like work," she wrote on her website.

She stresses a sensory ride theater experience, passionate instructors, creative themes with a special attention to beginners, calibrated top-tier bikes with advanced computer consoles, complete with quality cycling shoes and then a fancy experience at the spa-like studio including chilled scented towels.

In addition to indoor cycling there's the Press Room, where they will feature a range of floor and mat-oriented class options, from gentle foam rolling and stretching before cycling, to yoga and body strengthening classes such as TRX and Pilates.
