ARMUN Students at Commonwealth Model UN, win honors
ARMUN Students participated in the Commonwealth School/UNAGB Model UN Conference on 4/29 and did well and 2 Ottoson students won top awards

The Arlington Regional Model United Nations & Civic Engagement Clubs (ARMUN) middle school club had a group of students participate in the Commonwealth School/United Nations Association of Greater Boston Model United Nations Conference on April 29, and they did a great job and many of them stated that this was their favorite conference ever.
The students who participated included from Ottoson, 8th graders: Maya Krishnan, who was awarded the Best Negotiator, and played the role of King Christian V of Norway and Denmark in the Great Northern War Crisis Committee and Juliette Ortiz, who was awarded Honorable Mention for Best Delegate, who was in the role of the United Kingdom in the United Nations Security Council Committee, which was discussing the conflict in the South China Sea; 7th grader Seth Jones, who was Columbia in the World Health Organizaton, which was discussing Air Pollution and issues of Air Quality; and 6th graders Michael Song who was India, also in the World Health Organization, and Erica Yasahura, who was the President of South Korea in the Vietnam War Joint Crisis Committee.
Also attending the Conference were 7th graders: Liam Offer, of Groton, who was the Chair of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff in the Vietnam War Joint Crisis Committee, and Amiyr Ahmad, of Watertown, who was the President of North Vietnam in the Vietnam War Joint Crisis Committe; and 5th grader Andrew Harrington, of Needham, who was the Prime Minister of the USSR in the Vietnam Joint Crisis Committee.
