Join us for a fascinating discussion with Alex Krapf, First Vice President of the American Numismatic Society, about the evolution of medal design in America. Krapf’s talk will span 250 years of history, from the first American medal commissioned by Benjamin Franklin, to the classically inspired designs of 19th-century and the bold innovations of the modern era. Along the way, he will explore the ways in which politics, technology, and artistic movements influenced medal design, and how Cyrus Dallin’s own coin and medal designs contributed to the development of this art form. Krapf will bring select medals from his own collection for attendees to view up close!

This event is free and will take place at Robbins Library, 700 Mass. Ave., Arlington. No reservations are required.

Sponsored by the Cyrus Dallin Art Museum and Robbins Library in conjunction with Hidden Treasures, a month-long celebration of nature and culture organized by Freedom’s Way National Heritage Area.
