Community TV Station Teaches Storytelling in Arlington!
Local Arlington MA community television station teaches classes and workshops in filmmaking where you can learn digital storytelling!
Arlington Community Media, Inc. (ACMi) is launching a new fall class schedule, and it’s not just about teaching the filmmaking basics (though they’ll be happy to teach those if asked, of course!). In an age where smartphones make everyone a potential filmmaker, ACMi teaches quality audio techniques, basic camera methods, and how to get to the heart of the story being told. Digital Storytelling - from TEDTalks gone viral to Moth story podcasts to YouTube sensations - is a growing phenomenon nationwide. Everyone is sharing their personal experiences. This fall, ACMi offers classes in digital storytelling for all kinds of seniors - from those in high school to those 65 and over!
In Harnessing the Power of Video for College Applications, high schoolers are invited to explore the possibilities of adding a video component to their applications. Colleges are increasingly open to receiving video materials that showcase an applicant’s creativity and talents as a supplement or, in some cases, even as a substitute for the traditional college essay. We all recognize that video is a potent medium for communicating beyond the written word - why not harness that power to provide the fullest picture possible as a college applicant?
Continuing an ongoing partnership with the Arlington Council on Aging, ACMi is offering Celebrating Stories: A Documentary Film Class. This course is open to all ages and focuses on helping seniors frame their life narratives through video, audio, old photographs, and storytelling. If you are, or know, someone whose legacy deserves to be preserved, consider taking this invaluable class!
