DUI Checkpoint Coming Up In Middlesex County
Massachusetts State Police will hold a checkpoint in an undisclosed location this weekend.
MIDDLESEX COUNTY, MA — Massachusetts State Police will conduct a sobriety checkpoint somewhere in Middlesex County this weekend. Police Col. Kerry A. Gilpin made the announcement Monday.
The checkpoint will be set up at an undisclosed location the night of Saturday, Sept. 28. It will run through early Sunday. The checkpoint is funded by a grant from the Highway Safety Division of the Massachusetts Executive Office of Public Safety and Security.
"The purpose is to further educate the motoring public and strengthen the public's awareness to the need of detecting and removing those motorists who operate under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs from our roadways," State Police said. "It will be operated during varied hours, the selection of vehicles will not be arbitrary, safety will be assured, and any inconveniences to motorists will be minimized with advance notice to reduce fear and anxiety."
