DUI Checkpoint In Middlesex County Memorial Day Weekend
State police will have a checkpoint in an undisclosed location at the start of the long weekend.
MIDDLESEX COUNTY, MA — The Massachusetts State Police will have a sobriety checkpoint in Middlesex County at the start of Memorial Day weekend. Col. Kerry A. Gilpin, superintendent of the Massachusetts State Police, made the announcement Wednesday.
The checkpoint will be set up at an undisclosed location in Middlesex County Friday, May 24 into Saturday, May 25. It is funded by a grant from the Highway Safety Division of the Massachusetts Executive Office of Public Safety and Security.
"The purpose is to further educate the motoring public and strengthen the public’s awareness to the need of detecting and removing those motorists who operate under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs from our roadways," state police said. "It will be operated during varied hours, the selection of vehicles will not be arbitrary, safety will be assured, and any inconveniences to motorists will be minimized with advance notice to reduce fear and anxiety."
