DUI Checkpoint In Middlesex County Overnight

State police will have a checkpoint in an undisclosed location Friday night into Saturday morning.

MIDDLESEX COUNTY, MA – The Massachusetts State Police will have a sobriety checkpoint in Middlesex County Friday, Dec. 28 into Saturday, Dec. 29. Col. Kerry A. Gilpin, superintendent of the Massachusetts State Police, made the announcement Christmas Eve.

The checkpoint will be set up at an undisclosed location in Middlesex County. It is funded by a grant from the Highway Safety Division of the Massachusetts Executive Office of Public Safety and Security.

"The purpose is to further educate the motoring public and strengthen the public’s awareness to the need of detecting and removing those motorists who operate under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs from our roadways," police said. "It will be operated during varied hours, the selection of vehicles will not be arbitrary, safety will be assured, and any inconveniences to motorists will be minimized with advance notice to reduce fear and anxiety."
