In this concert, we will present Johannes Brahms' deeply-beloved "Ein deutsches Requiem," (A German Requiem). This stunning Romantic work departs from the standard Latin Requiem Mass setting. Instead, Brahms uses various Biblical texts in a decidedly non-denominational way. Words of comfort to the living and prayers of peaceful rest for the departed are set to some of the most beautiful and moving music ever written for chorus and orchestra. Vocal soloists are soprano Jessica Rossi and baritone Athan Mantalos.
This is a joint performance by The Arlington-Belmont Chorale and the Arlington Philharmonic Orchestra, the two larger performance components of the Philharmonic Society of Arlington, a community arts organization with a proud history of over 75 years of performing the finest in classical music.
