Empower Spinal Cord Injury Dodgeball Tournament

DODGEBALL TOURNAMENT TO ADVANCE THE LIVES OF INDIVIDUALS WITHSPINAL CORD INJURIES

Arlington, Massachusetts (August 23, 2012) - Empower Spinal Cord Injury (SCI),Incorporated is holding its first Dodgeball Tournament fundraiser on Saturday,September 29, 2012 at “Together In Motion” in Arlington, MA. Together in Motion islocated on 1 Broadway, Arlington, MA 02474. Fundraiser participants will form teams offour to raise funds and play a Round Robin Dodgeball tournament; funds will be raisedfor Empower SCI’s program to advance the lives of individuals living with spinal cordinjuries. The event begins at 2:00PM. Standard and accessible parking is available intheir free lot. On street parking is also available.A spinal cord injury can happen to anyone at any given point in time. Whetherindividuals are injured in a high risk situation such as combat or performing a mundanetask such as walking on a recently washed floor, a spinal cord injury can alter aperson’s most basic daily activities forever. Without adequate rehabilitation services,this life altering injury can lead to depression, inactivity, and dependence on familymembers and friends.Empower SCI is a 501 ( c ) ( 3 ) charitable organization established in Decemberof 2010 that provides a unique blend of traditional and complementary therapeuticservices to adolescents and adults who have been disabled by a spinal cord injury orother related neurological disorders through a four week residential program. EmpowerSCI seeks to fill the gap in the rehabilitation industry that has been created by adecrease in length of stays at rehabilitation hospitals and outpatient services during therecovery from a spinal cord injury. The mission of the organization is to empower thoseindividuals with spinal cord injuries to develop the skills needed to reach their highestpotential for independence, enabling these individuals to lead happier, more meaningfullives.
