
Arlington Children's Theatre kicks off its 2010-2011 season with an adaptation of Victor Hugo's classic saga, Les Misérables. Based on the 1862 French novel, Les Misérables tells the story of two generations of French citizens struggling for justice in the years leading up to the French Revolution. Jean Valjean, a reformed ex-convict who tries to rebuild his life, faces relentless persecution by police inspector Javert, who becomes obsessed with destroying his foe. Other characters seek power, love, and ultimately redemption as the violent revolution marches on. Filled with fascinating vignettes of 19th-century France, the play boasts a brilliant cast of characters who weave an exciting tapestry of humankind at its best and worst.
