There are Changes to Open Enrollment Periods - This year people enrolled in a Medicare Advantage Plan (HMO, PPO, PFFS) will also make any changes during the Open Enrollment Period. The Medicare Open Enrollment period begins on November 15, 2010 and ends December 31, 2010. A new Medicare Advantage Disenrollment Period will begin on January 1, 2011 and end on February 14, 2011.
The Affordable Care Act added an annual Wellness Visit for Medicare Beneficiaries and eliminated co-pays or coinsurance for several preventive exams such as mammograms. Partial coverage in the Prescription Coverage Gap [the donut hole] will begin in 2011. Learn about these and more at the November 18th presentation.
