Navigating the Healthcare Maze

Being an informed consumer has never been more important, particularly when it relates to healthcare.  Healthcare is changing at such a fast pace that it’s challenging to figure out what it is you need to know.  The nearly 77 million baby boomers, now being called the “Sandwich Generation,” are beginning to need healthcare from an already taxed healthcare system.  The “Sandwich Generation” is sandwiched between caring for aging family members and raising their own children.  Certainly, the internet is one resource, but how can you gain knowledge with real life situations before needing healthcare?  Who will be the advocates for your parent or family member should they be faced with healthcare decisions?

Christine Dixon, RN, CEO of Visiting Nurse and Community Health, will be presenting an informational discussion on “Navigating the Healthcare Maze.”  The discussion will include the “not-so-good” changes in healthcare, as well as what has happened within the healthcare system that has caused the changes.  It will focus on who really is in charge of your loved ones’ care, recognizing the risks and, most importantly, providing education on what resources are available and when to access them.  “Navigating the Healthcare Maze” will be presented on May 12 at 6 pm at Youville Place, 10 Pelham Road, Lexington, MA 02421.
