Robbins Library Independent Film Series

Jay Burke, New Bedford born writer and director, will speak at a showing of his film,“Whaling City”.  The film follows the struggles of an independent commercial fisherman as he fights to save his boat, his livelihood and his way of life. The script won an Alfred P. Sloan Screenwriting Award and Feature Film Production Grant.  Made in New Bedford and its vicinity, actors performed side-by-side with real people from the fishing industry.
