The Splendor of Mexico: A Celebration of Mexican Music and Dance with Veronica Robles

“The Splendor of Mexico: A Celebration of Mexican Music and Dance” will take participants through the rich history of Mexico from pre-hispanic times, to the arrival of the Spanish, to the modern day world of hybrid cultures with a performance by local Mariachi singer and teaching artist Veronica Robles and her mariachi band Son de America. An event for all ages, in “The Splendor of Mexico” Veronica will perform lively Mexican dances from different regions of Mexico and sings traditional songs while playing a unique Mariachi instrument called the vihuela. During her performance participants will learn dance moves, try on costumes and be able to ask questions in this interactive environment. The event will take place at Robbins Library in Arlington on Sunday, May 20, 2012 from 3-4pm. Tickets are free but donations to support Veronica's work are appreciated. This event is made possible by a grant from Arlington Cultural Council.
