Transcendence - Harp, Horns, and Voices of Cantilena

The chorus is joined by harpist Barbara Poeschl-Edrich on Sunday, December 5 at 3 p.m. at the U.U. Church in Arlington Center.

Leave your earthly cares behind and let Cantilena take you to a place of mystery and transformative beauty.  The program features celebrated pieces for women's voices and harp that explore the power of music to transport us to another world.

Ms. Martin conducts Holst's mystical "Choral Hymns from the Rig Veda 3," Brahms' thrilling yet delicate "Four Songs for Women's Chorus, Two Horns & Harp," and Thompson's "The Place of the Blest," Gawthrop's "Sing Me To Heaven" which bridges the earthly and divine, and Rutter's interpretation of English carols, "Dancing Day" - an ideal antidote to holiday stress.
