Frozen Custard Shop Aiming For Spring Opening In Arlington Center
A NY-based chain of shops is bringing its fourth greater Boston location to Arlington.
ARLINGTON, MA – A New York-based chain of frozen custard shops is opening in Arlington and could be here as soon as this spring. The owner of Abbott's Frozen Custard told YourArlington he plans to open in Arlington Center in April, citing last year's opening in Lexington on Patriots Day.
The news that Abbott's was coming to Arlington was first reported by Boston Restaurant Talk, which cited the "Locations" page on the chain's website. The Arlington location will be the chain's fourth in the Boston area; Abbott's also has shops in Brighton, Needham and Lexington.
Abbott's opened its first shop in Rochester, NY in 1926, 24 years after founder Arthur Abbott started selling frozen custard at carnivals along the east coast. It now has 40 locations spanning Massachusetts to Florida.
