Britt McNiff and DeWitt grew up as neighbors in Madison, Wis., where McNiff babysat DeWitt and her sister for years. They were reunited when DeWitt saw McNiff’s Facebook post about Mimi, then 4, who was in the cardiac intensive care unit at Boston Children’s Hospital – as it turned out, DeWitt was doing her residency there at the time. DeWitt is now a Cardiac Fellow at the hospital.
