Jazz at the Regent Friday

A special performance at the Regent to highlight the jazz of the beat generation.

This weekend, the Regent Theatre in Arlington will feature the music of the Beat Generation at 8 p.m. on June 25.

Written by Namaya, the music in this off-off Broadway revue celebrates "cool jazz music, Jack Kerouac, Lord Buckley and the culture of the 40s to the 60s that bred the baby boomers," according to the website.

Called the "Beatnik Café," the show stars living legends of the Beat Generation like Lilly Bryant Howard, the jazz and blues singer of Swan Records fame with her hits in the 1950's. Additionally, Richmond Shepard will appear as Lord Buckley.
