'Lord Of The Rings' Marathon Goes Down Saturday at The Regent
From the Shire, all the way to Mordor.

It’s easy to assume any Tolkien fan worth his or her salt has binge-watched “The Fellowship of the Ring,” “The Two Towers,” and “The Return of the King” films in succession numerous times, and The Regent Theater’s Lord of the Rings marathon starting Saturday, Feb. 28 at 9 a.m. is an exercise in redundancy.
Except the spectacle of the Peter Jackson-directed, essential sword and sorcery viewings aren’t quite done justice without a big screen. Watching Frodo and co.’s quest on a TV or laptop just doesn’t compare.

Furthermore - sorry if this makes you feel old - but ”The Fellowship...” movie came out in 2001. That means babies who were much too little to go to the movies when the ”Rings” films first hit the cinemas are, today, the ideal age to appreciate the trilogy.
So when you think about it, this screening’s closer to a necessity than a redundancy. Maybe Arlington could use a reminder that one does not simply walk to Mordor.
