Memorial Day In Arlington: What You Need To Know

ARLINGTON, MA — Monday, May 27 is Memorial Day, and the town will hold a remembrance ceremony at Town Hall at 9:30 a.m. (doors open at 9). The keynote speaker this year is Brigadier General Francis Magurn II. Following the ceremony at the Town Hall, we will proceed to Mt. Pleasant Cemetery for our wreath laying ceremonies at our veteran burial lots. View chapel hours at arlingtonma.gov/cemetery.

The holiday also means government offices and some businesses will be closed. Before you head out, check our list of what's open and closed on the holiday.
- Retail stores: Open at owner's discretion
- Subway, buses: Sunday schedule.
- Supermarkets: Open
- Convenience stores: Open
- Bars: Open
- Banks: Closed
- Basically anything to do with municipal government: Closed
- Libraries, see above: Closed
- Schools: Closed
- Mail: Express delivery only
- Trash/recycling collection: Delayed one day. Monday pickup on Tuesday, Tuesday pickup on Wednesday, etc., ending with Friday pickup on Saturday.
