National Ice Cream Day: How To Celebrate In Arlington
Where do you go for your ice cream fix?

ARLINGTON, MA— Mmm, ice cream. If you needed another excuse for the treat, ice cream lovers unite on National Ice Cream Day, which falls on Sunday, July 16.
It's not exactly the most official holiday, sure. But it was first declared in 1984 as a joint resolution by a senator from Kentucky. And later signed by President Ronald Regan. How much more official do you need to get? Ice cream.
And, for the coupon minded, McDonald's, for instance, is offering a free soft serve vanilla cone if you download its mobile app to redeem the offer (there's one at Alewife). Cumberland Farms is giving away ice cream sandwiches if you buy a Pepsi or a Mountain Dew and happen to be in Sommerville.

Patch shared with you this week that if you make it to Waltham, Friendly's is selling full-sized Friend-z for $2.99, with $2 of that going to the Boys & Girls Clubs of America.
While it may not be the healthiest of foods, ice cream does have some health benefits in moderation, according to Sharecare, a health information platform. Ice cream can help fight infertility, it contains bone-strengthening calcium and phosphorous. We'll take it.
