Obituary: Catherine J. Malatesta,16, She Left an Indelible Mark on All the Lives She Touched

The teen was an honors student, Student Council President, field hockey captain and accomplished singer.

Malatesta, Catherine J. of Arlington, passed away peacefully on August 2, at age 16.

Beloved daughter of Gregg and Jennifer of Arlington and cherished sister of Drew and Reid. Adored granddaughter of Jane and William McQueeney of Sudbury, Phillip and Joanne Malatesta of Arlington and David and Barbara Goodwin of Kennebunkport, ME. Loving niece of David and Nancy Goodwin of Sudbury, Kim and Thomas Brown of Scituate, and Jonathan and Allison Goodwin of Belmont. Treasured cousin of Taylor, Connor, Devin, Madeline, Daniel, Jane, Addison and countless immediate family members and dear friends whose lives have been forever touched by Catherine’s perpetually bright star.

Catherine attended Arlington High School where she was an honors student, was Student Council President, passionately sang in the Madrigals chorus, was varsity Field Hockey captain, and flourished participating in the Gilbert & Sullivan musical productions.

Catherine was also a member of the Arlington-Belmont Girls Varsity Crew team. She was enriched by her faith and was passionate about teaching CCD at St. Agnes Parish. One of Catherine’s greatest loves was her time at Camp Coniston. This camp, its community and her friends were her true heaven on earth. Catherine was a natural leader in every aspect of her life. Her exuberance, infectious smile, fearless personality, steadfast loyalty, confidence, courage, grace and enduring love for others have left an indelible mark on all of our lives.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours in Saint Agnes’ Church, 51 Medford St., Arlington on Thursday from 3-8 pm. Funeral Mass in St. Agnes Church, 51 Medford St., Arlington on Friday at 10 am. Burial in St. Paul’s Cemetery, Arlington.
