Obituary: Justin 'Jerry' Comeau, Former Arlington Director of Public Health

Comeau, a World War II veteran, died Sunday, Oct. 26.

Justin “Jerry” Edward Comeau, of Bridgewater, West Yarmouth and longtime resident of Arlington, age 90, died peacefully at home on Sunday, Oct. 26, 2014.

Survived by his beloved wife of 66 years to Jean M. (Lanigan) Comeau. Loving father of Cheryl and Edward Donahue of Middleboro/Bridgewater, Elaine and Henry Arseneault of Arlington, Diane and Bruce Baker of Bridgewater, Robert and Paul Comeau, both of Arlington, and the late William Justin Comeau of Cambridge. Proud grandfather of Kerry and John McLaughlin, Michele and David Coughlin, Amy and Michael Ritchie, Sean and Katie Donahue, Erin and Brett Barry, Danielle and Michael Ricketts and Brian and Michael Baker. Cherished Grampy Jerry to his nine great grandchildren. He also leaves his sister Lorraine and her husband Virgil Swift of Oklahoma, and his late sister Jeannette Tompkins and her husband Rick. Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and dear friends.

Justin began his employment for the Town of Arlington in 1955 where he rose to the position of Director of Public Health. He retired from his services in 1986 and enjoyed a long and prosperous life filled with happiness and joy surrounded by all of his family. No one was a prouder veteran than Justin. He served in World War II, Pacific Theatre. He was a member of the KofC Council 269, the American Legion in Arlington and the DAV Post 39 in Arlington.

Funeral from the Keefe Funeral Home, 5 Chestnut St. (Route 60, adjacent to St. Agnes Church), ARLINGTON, on Thursday at 9 a.m. Funeral mass at Saint Agnes Church at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours Wednesday, 4-7 p.m. Burial is private.
