Obituary: Paul 'Pompeo' DeRubeis

DeRubeis died Saturday, Aug. 30.

Paul “Pompeo” DeRubeis, of Arlington and Falmouth, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 30, 2014, peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 79. Even while battling cancer, Paul kept his positive demeanor, spirit and love for everyone alive and well.

Paul, formerly of San Donato, Italy, was a young child when the town of San Donato was occupied by German troops during World War II. He left his war torn town in Italy at the age of 20 to find success in the U.S. He worked in commercial building construction for years. He was devoted to his family, enjoyed traveling, Cape Cod and golf.

Beloved husband of 55 years to Donna (Cocuzzo), loving father of Robert and his wife Virginia DeRubeis of Westwood, Ruth and her husband Robert Capone of Westwood and Lillian and her husband David Fardy of Millis. Grandfather to Julia DeRubeis, Michael and Mariel Capone, Joshua and Bradley Fardy.

Funeral from The DeVito Funeral Home, 1145 Mass. Ave., ARLINGTON, Thursday morning at 8, followed by a Funeral Mass at 9 in St Camillus Church, 1175 Concord Turnpike, Arlington. Entombment at Newton Cemetery. Visiting at the funeral home on Wednesday, 4-8 p.m. A special thank you to the staff at the Neely Cell Therapy and Collection Center at Tufts Medical Center for their perpetual compassionate care throughout Paul’s illness.
