Police Log: Deterring Suicides, Domestic Disputes

Tuesday, October 5 

4:02 a.m.: Officers arrived at a home at Greely Circle, where a domestic dispute was in progress. The 41-year-old man allegedly arrived home intoxicated a few hours prior to the call and began to tear up the house. Officers found severed electrical cords and pillows cut open. The suspect had allegedly brandished a firearm and held it to the head of a woman in his home. The victim called the police, who arrested the suspect on a count of assault. Police also searched the property and found six improperly secured firearms. They continued to charge the suspect with improper use of a firearm and suspended his license to bear arms. 

11:15 a.m.: Police responded to Mass Avenue residence yesterday after a 52-year-old male resident threatened to commit suicide and fled the scene. A family argument had ensued Monday evening and the man had threatened to kill himself. He proceeded to mark objects in the house to show who should receive them after his death. After he fled the scene, a woman in the home called the authorities who attempted to trace his whereabouts using a tracking device on his cell phone. Authorities also tracked purchases on his credit card and discovered that he had just used it at Logan Airport.Arlington Police sent his photo to the airport and Logan Police found the man in his terminal. He was then transported to Boston Medical Center for a psychiatric evaluation.

10:05 p.m.: Officers responded to a Park Avenue residence where a domestic dispute had allegedly occurred. A 24-year-old male suspect was taken into custody and an immediate restraining order was issued for the victim.
