Route 2 Lanes To Close In Arlington, Lexington

Crews will repair and replace gas line anomalies discovered during a recent inspection.

ARLINGTON, MA — The right two lanes on Route 2 westbound will close in Arlington and Lexington starting Wednesday, June 26, according to MassDOT. Closures will take place between Exits 56 and 57 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. during the week and 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on the weekends. A minimum of two lanes will remain open at all times.

The westbound on-ramp from Wadsworth Road to Route 2 will be closed just before Dow Avenue. Traffic will remain on Wadsworth Road until the next on-ramp at Watertown Street. Work will be suspended on July 3 and 4.

Traffic impacts are in place to allow Algonquin Gas Transmission Company crews and contractors to repair gas line anomalies documented during a recent system inspection, according to MassDOT.

Signs, traffic control devices and police details will be deployed to guide drivers through the work zone. All work is weather dependent and is subject to change without notice.
