Select Board Approves Arlington Restaurant After Name Conflict

A new restaurant is replacing an Arlington Center eatery after a little over a year.

ARLINGTON, MA – The select board last week unanimously approved the common victualler and all licenses for an incoming Arlington Center restaurant, according to the Arlington Advocate. Rangla Punjab is moving into 444 Mass. Ave., replacing Singh Saab, which opened a little over a year ago.

Originally called Mini Punjab, the restaurant changed its name after the owners of nearby Punjab expressed concern over confusion between the two, the Advocate reported. Some members of the board specifically cited the use of the word "mini" in close proximity to the familiar Punjab, while others hoped the incoming eatery would do away with the "Punjab" part altogether.

The board ultimately approved the licenses Oct. 10.
